August 11,2009 - Concert review: Our Lady Peace at House of Blues

Monday night at the House of Blues, Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace played their first show here in years. Touring in support of their newly released, seventh studio album Burn Burn, the quartet proved that they not only can still draw a crowd, but can deliver an awesome show.



Taking the stage at around 9:30 p.m., the crowd applauded and screamed as the band opened with "Monkey Brains" from Burn Burn and quickly transitioned into "Superman's Dead" from 1997's Clumsy. The set list featured songs from the band's entire catalog and vocalist Raine Maida could often be seen stepping away from the mic to allow the audience to sing parts of songs. This was never more prominent then when the band played "4AM" (also from Clumsy) and Maida allowed the audience to sing virtually the entire first half of the song as he stood on the edge of the stage watching.

After a short exit from the stage, the band returned for a three-song encore, which included "In Repair," "Starseed" (with a guest appearance by American Idol David Cook), and "Naveed." The show was definitely spot-on and left the fans satisfied with the long awaited return.
