This concert was the best one I have went to this year. My friend and I drove from Detroit to Columbus to see OLP play, and it was definitely worth it.
When we first got to the venue at 4, my friend and I heard music playing, so we walked around the building and walked in a door, and saw Steve, Jeremy, Duncan, and Mike jamming out on stage. I look to my right and I find Raine sitting in a chair writing out the setlist. My friend and I walked up to him and started a short conversation with him before he went up on stage. They played Thief and started playing Innocent before the guards kicked my friend and I out of the place. We walked back in to catch some of A Story About A Girl and the guard took us out again...but Raine waved at us on the way out.
The show itself was amazing. They played an awesome set where they mixed Naveed and Life together, had an amazing intro to Starseed, and closed with the crowd singing 4AM. They threw things into the crowd and I snagged a guitar pick and a drum stick from Jeremy.
After the show my friend and I walked back to their tourbus and waited in the rain to see them come out and to try to speak with them. They came out and the band stayed out with us for an hour talking, which was great. Steve remembered who I was from the two previous Detroit shows I was at, and Raine said he remembered me too. Raine said the intro to Starseed had some of The Wonderful Future in it, so who knows, maybe they'll play that in the near future. Mike said the band is working on Stealing Babies and Julia, and he's been working on Blister himself, which would be amazing live.
The drive was definitely worth it, and I will be in Chicago and Cleveland. The last words Raine said to me were "Hope to see you in Chicago."
