I saw Our Lady Peace live at Centennial Park in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada July 11th/02.. let me just say... WOW.

Gates opened at 6:00, but we went there an hour early, not even thinking that by then there would already be a line up (yeah.. we were stupid). Let me say, the line up was long.. maybe TOO long.. LOL. After standing in line for 5 minutes, we noticed that the line behind us had almost doubled.. and you can imagine how long it was after 15 minutes.. or even up until the time the gates opened. Even after the opening act started (Flicker, at about 7) their was still a line stretching all the way around the venue!

Let me say that it was the best show I've ever seen live by ANY band, or artist. They sang several songs off their new cd Gravity (All For You, Do You Like It?, Bring Back The Sun, Story About A Girl [amazing] and Innocent [even better! WOW is all I can say]) and they played a lot of their oldies but favourites..

I can't quite recall which song they started out with but I do remember which songs they played (not in the right order though) they played, Naveed (with an interlude of Life in the middle), Right Behind You (I think they sang Whatever.. but at this point they [the crowd] had been pushing like a mother riot so we lost track of what was going on), Thief (my favourite song - amazing), Is Anybody Home? (amazing), One Man Army, Superman's Dead, Clumsy, and Automatic Flowers. They finished with Starseed and thanked the crowd for coming out. Somehow everyone knew that that wasn't the end and the crowd exploded with cheers when Raine and the rest of the band came back out. Raine talked about a song and how it had inspired a girl after she had lost 6 of her friends in a car crash. They dedicated it to a girl named Holly and began to sing Somewhere Out There. Finally, some people from the crowd started to part but the most of us were slightly disappointed that they hadn't played our favourite song. Then, they came back out once again, for one last song. Yep, you guessed it... 4 AM.

It was amazing because Raine didn't even sing this song.. in fact... he lip sanch to this song because the entire crowd (I don't even know how many people were there but it was HUGE) was singing it for him. I don't think he sang more than two of the words because the crowd carried the tune along perfectly. He thanked us once again at the end, saying we were awesome fans.. and the show was done.

Raine Maida did an amazing job.. I was kind of afraid that the vocals wouldn't be there because I have heard rumours that he wasn't so good singing live. Boy was I ever mistaken. He sounded amazing, ad-libbing, and hitting every note. It was absolutely AMAZING. The rest of the band was also amazing. Each song was PERFECT in every way and I don't think that it could have been done any better by anyone else.

I encourage anyone who knows that OLP will be coming to their town or near their town to go see them because it's definitely a show to see...
