Clumsy Congress

Here's the problem:

You've recently been introduced to the world of Our Lady Peace. YOU NEED INFO AND YOU NEED IT NOW!! Because of your internet smart you've found the clumsy congress. Now what? Well here is a list of tips and the regular posters, any of them would be more than happy to help you out!

Hello?
On first glance this may look like and elaborate chat room to you....it is not!  In fact most people will get rather annoyed with you if you treat it as such.  This is a message board which means that you post your question/comment and come back later to see what other people have said.

Spam-a-rama?
That's right spam's not just your favorite lunch meat anymore! ;-)
Spam-a-rama was created with the same intention of the Un-Topic.  Feel free to post almost anything in this topic even if it has nothing to do with OLP.  If you venture in though, don't be surprised if you get caught in the middle of a spam fight!  (It's all in good fun folks)

I want a topic about........How do I get it?
This is a moderated message board.  Someone from sony is there and keeps an eye on things. But don't start screaming censorship just yet.  Suggest a topic was created for all of the congressors to put in their thoughts and new topic idea's.  Elana from sony reads through this topic and suggestions that get support are usually made into new topics.  How do you think we got Spam-a-rama?

Well then lets get a topic to trade bootlegs!
Considering bootlegs are technically illegal sony is not going to support this kind of thing on an official band page.  It has been suggested and rejected before.  This type of thing usually will only happen on fan pages.

Oops I didn't mean to post that!
Don't panic!  If you look at any post you made you'll see the number beside it is blue.  Click on that number and it will bring you to a new screen with the Scribble and Hide options. If you click on scribble the post will be erased forever.  There is no way to retrieve the post once it has been scribbled!  Hiding a post simply means that the post is not visible unless you click on it.  The post is not deleted and it can be made visible again at any time.  This is especially usefully for very long posts.

All about me:
When you sign up for the Clumsy Congress for the first time you enter your real name and e-mail among other things.  Some of this info is entered into your personal profile.  You can view any persons profile by clicking on their name.  You can and should update your profile easily by clicking on  settings at the bottom of the CC screen.  form there a new window will open just click on profile make your changes and viola!  you're all set!

Active, Forgotten and Archived Topics
You'll see these at the top of the CC screen.  Active topics are the ones that people post in regularly.  Archived topics are old topics that you can read but no longer post in. Forgotten topic are ones that you've chosen not to view anymore.  Forgetting and remembering topics is easy.
To forget a topic:
Click on the topic you wish to forget.  at the top of the screen you will see the forget button click on it and the top  will no longer display.

To remember a topic:
Click on the forgotten topics button at the top of the screen.  This will bring up a list of your forgotten topics.  Click on the topic you wish to remember.  Then click on the remember button.  The topic will once again be displayed with the other active topics.

Off topic posts
This is a major beef of most congressors.  Granted we do tend to get off topic every once in a while but we try our best.  The two topics that people tend to be really sensitive about of topic posting is Hot Off The Wire and Suggest a Topic.  Elana from Sony has to read suggest a topic to find out what new topics we want. Please only post in there if its something that she needs to read.

Congressors
The congress had been around since early 1997.  Last december there was a major software overhaul and a lot of the "original congressors" left.  There are just a few of us dinosaurs left there so you only have to deal with our whining about "the good old days" once in a while.

With that being said My personal opinion is that change is a good thing.  The Clumsy Congress has seen many people come and go.  Here is a list of some of the people that post at the CC.
