Peace greets Year 2000

It looks as if the new millennium will be ushering in a new era of peace -- Our Lady Peace, that is.

The popular Toronto-based band has been chosen to headline the Millennium House Party, a mega-concert at the Corel Centre on New Year's Eve.

Although the event is still in the preliminary planning stages, with most artists yet to be confirmed -- even the "special guest host" is still a secret -- the Corel Centre is going ahead with ticket sales.

It is known the party will feature 12 bands on seven stages with 11 theme rooms, five DJs, a world satellite video link, a fireworks spectacular and about 15,000 revelers.

The concert portion of the show will occur early in the evening and climax with a midnight performance by Our Lady Peace.

Following that, the stadium will be transformed into a giant club with techno-DJs.

Early bird tickets, starting at $49, go on sale Tuesday and are available on-line only at www.corelcentre.com or www.ticketmaster.ca.

Regular tickets, available at all ticketmaster locations and the Corel Centre, will range in price from $64 for the silver pass to $119 for the platinum.

Some proceeds will help The Mission, a local homeless shelter, build a Millennium Life Skills Centre.'
