After
making their British debut to a packed and excited audience at London's Borderline club, Toronto based Our Lady Peace left the UK promising to make an early return.
Although their second album,'Clumsy', has gone platinum in the States and double platinum in Canada, the UK show concluded their first ever tour of Europe, where they are still comparatively unknown.
"It's a great way to end this tour," said vocalist Raine Maida, speaking to Metal Hammer shortly before the gig, which sold out three weeks in advance, "because we've been busting our ass these last three weeks, playing clubs to maybe 200 or 300 people, who were really energetic and passionate about the music.
"After the show, we can't even speak to these people - my French and German is very limited - and it's a phenomenal feeling to have music translate your feelings. It makes you feel like a kid again and - it sounds corny and stupid - but you realise thats we do everything we do.
After touring in the States with Third Eye Blind this summer Our Lady Peace hope to return to the UK in October, breaking Europe now being a priority for the band Guitarist Mike Turner, who was born and raised in yorkshire before emigrating to Canada, has a special reason for wanting success in Britain. I've still got family oop north that I need to impress!" he laughs.
