Our Lady Peace - TV Guide Online Chat Transcript

TVGLive2: Welcome guys! Thanks for coming tonight!

TVGOurLady: Hello to any CC people.

Question: I love 4am. Out of all your songs which one do you like the most?

TVGOurLady: You know what because we're in road mode, our favorites change from night to night. It's such a typical answer, but it really is true. Whatever mood we're in, we'll get it out on stage.

Question: What was it like playing at Woodstock?

TVGOurLady: It was fun. I mean it was sad that it turned into what it will be remembered for. For us it was a chance to play before the album was released. It was for the audience to have a natural reaction for the songs. We knew no one heard them yet.

Raine: I was the one that started all the fires.
Mike: It was cold.

What's the next single?

TVGOurLady: Raine: A song called Is Anybody Home?. We just shot a video for it over the weekend. It should be pretty fun.

Question: Your live shows are so amazing.. have you found that audiences in other countries receive your music well?

TVGOurLady: Mike: Pretty much. We're very lucky that we don't discern our fans by nationality or
language. It's our hope that music is universal.

Raine: I got to admit that hearing Clumsy sung with really heavy French accents was a lot of fun. It was like hearing Inspector Closeau sing.

Question: What are the good and bad points about touring?

TVGOurLady: Mike: I get to play music for a living. I get to play the guitar. For a living and on stage. The bad side: Not enough sleep.

Question: Hi! I Love your music and wanted to know if you guys will tour the
US as a headlining act next year?

TVGOurLady: Raine: Starting in late Feb.

Mike: And continuing till you're sick of us.

Question: When did you guys first discover each other and, when were you actually discovered by a recording label?

TVGOurLady: Raine: I think we're in the process of discovering each other. 1993 we got our record deal. End of 1993. The process continues.

Mike: Although after four years of living on a bus together... We probably have way more information than we should.

Question: Do you guys know about when you might begin recording your next album?

TVGOurLady: Mike: Hopefully sooner.

Raine: Probably the fall anyway. That all depends on how long we have to tour.

What is the song "One Man Army" all about?

TVGOurLady: Mike: About being fearless and kind of going out on your own. Not being affected by so much the media and television.

Raine: Also about validating yourself. Instead of letting others do it for you.

Mike: Being an individual. Picking out your own clothes.

What other bands do you guys like and respect?

TVGOurLady: Pretty much most of the bands we've toured with. We've gained respect from them. When you see other bands take the same attitude as us. Musically I'm back into Shudder to Think and just amazed by how
original they are.

Mike: I feel the same way about P J Harvey.

Question: WHO WROTE THE SONG CLUMSY?

TVGOurLady: Raine: It started out with funny chords. We actually turned it into a country song at one point. That was the hardest song to record on that record. It took a month to record.

Question: Why the name?

TVGOurLady: Its a poem by a gentleman by Mark Van Doren. We just liked the name.

Question: How can we write fan mail to you?

TVGOurLady: www.ourladypeace.com There is a mailing address. It's rather huge. There are a lot of people on it. We love them all.

Question: When will the video for the single be out?

Raine: It comes out in the US in Jan. In Canada Dec 14th. It's being edited right now. In Milan.

Question: Any crazy things happen to you guys on the road?

TVGOurLady: Mike: Define crazy.

Raine: Honestly, our days are routine. We're very focused on our stage show. Jeremy road in one of the bus bays for about five miles. We locked him in there for five miles with stinkbomb. That's as wacky as we get.

Question: What do you guys do in when your not recording or on tour?

TVGOurLady: Mike: I like to play guitar.

Raine: I like to see movies. I read a bit. Walked out of Sleepy Hollow. I like Tim Burton. But it was dissappointing.

Mike: Raine likes to walk out of movies.

Raine: I did like Sixth Sense.

Question: What is going through your minds when you are on stage, technical or more emotional stuff relating to the song?

TVGOurLady: Mike: Usually when the stars are aligned, you lose yourself. Sometimes it just happens. Onstage you hope for that where you just lose yourself.

Question: Who are your inspriations?

TVGOurLady: Raine: The story of Van Gogh. I find myself relating. He went through phases till he found himself.

Question: Raine: congrats on your engagement to chantal!!! do you think you
might do some kind of duet, or a tour together sometime?

TVGOurLady: Raine: I actually played with her two nights ago.

Question: When do you visit with your families?

TVGOurLady: Hopefully, Christmas.

Question: If you could tour with any band, who would it be and why?

TVGOurLady: Mike: I'd like to tour with Jeff Buckley, but obviously, we can't. His guitar playing and singing was inspirational.
