Euro-Watch
This part of the page is the place to catch all
the
latest European OLP news. My name is "Rick Moore" and I used to run the first European based OLP fan site "Drown In A Starseed". I have now given that page
up so that I can concentrate on this section of this wonderful website.
I live in a small town called "Marple" which is about 12 miles from "Manchester" in the "United Kingdom". I try to cover as much of the European news as I can but obviously I can only cover so much. This part of the page is a team effort, so if you live
anywhere in Europe and have
anything to submit to this part of the page OLP related then please mail me.

The band has kept it's promise to fans on this side of the pond and have just announced UK dates in support of the "Stereophonics". This is a real showcase opportunity for the band to tour with such a high status band and will see them playing arena size
venues. The dates are as follow, but your going to have to move fast because some are already sold out -
December 3rd 1999 SECC Glasgow Scotland
December 4th 1999 Exhibition Centre Aberdeen Scotland
December 5th 1999 Telewest Arena Newcastle England

The "Stereophonics" are just about the biggest band to come out of Wales at the moment and are one of the most popular UK guitar orientated bands at the present time.
As with all other OLP dates we will be looking for Tourwatch reporters to write reviews for each show.

September 11th 1999 - No Happiness Till 2000
Just a small update to let you know that Europe and the rest of the world won't be seeing the album until some time in early 2000. The album is released in Canada on September 21st 1999 and
will follow in the US a week later on September 28th 1999. This delay was expected but don't fear you still have two chances to hear the album.
The official Our Lady Peace page will be holding a special online listening party on Monday September 13th, the band will also be taking part in a online questions and answering session. Also you can read info
rmation on ordering the album and with it receive a special limited "One Man Army" patch, as long as stocks last.
Hopefully we will know the release date for the rest of world soon. |

August 12th 1999 - First Update In A Long Time
Well it has almost been a year since I last added some European news to this section. Since the last update the band has been writing and recording material for their third studio album 'Happiness Is Not A Fish That You Can Catch'. Some European fans have been posting onto the official OLP mailing list "TH" wanting to know when the European release date is. I'm afraid to say that a date has not been set yet by OLP's European record label "Epic" but as soon as a date is set we will try and add it to this section as soon as possible. Remember that 'Clumsy' was released in Canada in January 1997 and not in Europe till October 1997 so we could be in for a wait. I expect a release date will be posted soon on Sony UK or Sony Europe.
This week OLP got a small mention in Kerrang! magazine which is on sale in the UK as part of the Woodstock '99 review. Here is what was written -
"The final day of Woodstock '99 gets off to a relatively mellow start with the likes of Willie Nelson, Brian Setzer, Everlast and Elvis Costello playing sets. Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness and Canadians Our Lady Peace make an attempt to liven thin
gs up with garage punkability and quickly-ageing grunge respectively, but it takes Sevendust to get the crowd really revved."
Not a very good review but at least our favourite band got a mention. Expect lots more European news in the coming weeks and months, please remember that this section needs input from you guys. We're still looking for set reviews and magazine artic
les or anything you guys may own from the 1998 European tour. |

August 19th - OLP European Update
At the present time OLP news is very slow in Europe. We are currently awaiting for the band to complete their 'Summersault' tour before awaiting plans of their next move. Last night was of course the brodcasting of the German OLP performance at 'Rock Im Ring' festival, however only 3 OLP songs were shown ("Superman's Dead", "Let You Down" and "Clumsy"), with the rest of the time being given to 'Thearpy?" songs. Included was a very short interview with Mike and Duncan. When asked about further plans for Europe, Mike responded that they wanted to plan something for the end of the year with 'October' again being mentioned as a possibility. |

July 19th - OLP Concert Broadcast On German TV
If you are currently living in Germany then you might be interested to hear that OLP's show at 'Rock Im Park' festival is getting a screening on TV. The broadcast can be seen on August 18th on a channel called 'Bayerischer Rundfunk'. It's a channel with a sign that looks like an EF in mirror writing. The time of the broadcast is midnight and also include's a performance from Irish band 'Therapy?'. I would like to thank Dany for this news. |

July 19th - 'Anthrax' Don't Like OLP
OLP were in this month's 'Metal Hammer' magazine, a small article was printed stating the bands plan to return to Europe. this article can be found in the articles archive section of this page. Also in the magazine was a review of the 'Superman's Dead' single. However the magazine did not review it, instead the heavy metal band 'Anthrax' did. They gave the single 1 / 10 and said OLP sucked and that Billy Corgan should sue them for ripping the pumpkins off. |

July 8th - OLP Fail To Make A Mark On UK Charts
OLP's debut UK single release 'Supermans Dead' has failed to make it into the top 50 singles. However this is due to no fault of the band, the single has had no radio or television airplay and has had a very low key release - only being reviewed in one magazine. I feel that OLP will not really gain a strong fanbase here until they return, perhaps in October. In other news both the Sony UK and Sony Europe websites have a small bio on the band with details of the bands single release. These two websites could perhaps be a very good resource for future European news. |

July 1st - First UK OLP Interview Is Here!
Kerrang! is the first magazine in the UK to feature an exclusive interview with OLP. The interview takes place with all 4 members and features an exclusive new picture of the band. However the best of the news is still to come: OLP plan to come back to the UK in October to tour. The interview and the first exclusive UK interview picture can be found in the articles archive section of this page. |
