02/05/2003 - "A Good Day in Ottawa"
by Tanya

It was a bit of a crazy day to start, with us having to grab a 6am train into Ottawa. But once we got to the venue everything was fine. It was a normal day (Well, normal for a tour anyway) for us. Soundcheck was fun, while the guy were waiting for Jeremy to get to the stage, Duncan sat behind the drums and played a bit while Raine picked up the bass. They messed around a bit with what sounded like a few different songs, then Jeremy showed up and they all took their usual spots. We discovered a fun tidbit, Much Music was following the guys of OLP all day in Ottawa and from the sound of it, they will be around in Montreal as well. Stace and I ended up on camera a few times, if they dont leave those parts on the cutting room floor, you all might see us on a special sometime in the future. If we are given any insight to when that will be, well let you know. After soundcheck, we caught up with a few of the guys to have them approve more pictures and some video clips. (I think Stace put those pictures up this morning.) Thats when Much got us on tape, time will only tell to see if we were interesting enough to keep that footage.

We then ran down the street with some friends to grab dinner. From there we had to get back to the venue so we could set up for the show. This show was a bit different then the others, Seether was not scheduled to play so The Trailer Park Boys video opened the show. Then Finger Eleven hit the stage, If my watch was right, they got to play a bit longer then they did when Seether was on the bill. They were getting a great feedback from the crowd, to the point that James Black, made the comment that they didnt have to tell the crowd to stand up. They sounded really good, Im really liking the new songs they are trying out on this tour. I keep forgetting to peek at a setlist to get the new song titles. Ill try to do that in Montreal.

The Trailer Park Boys went on next, those guys crack me up every time they hit the stage. Our Lady Peace came out to a fantastic roar of the crowd. (Side Note: I really like the way the stage was set up in this building, it was width ways instead of at one end of the arena. It made for a better view and the feeling of being closer to the stage.) The band sounded great and seemed to really feed off of the great crowd. Raine kept saying how he couldnt believe how loud everyone was, and that it was really great to hear. I can only imagine how great a feeling it is to hear your fans have that nice a response to your music. The whole hour and 45 minute set was fantastic. After the show we hung a bit with the bands and the techs while the crew broke down the stage. A few of our friends were in town for the show, so we left with them to go hang out. It was really nice to see everyone, I dont get to see them often. (You CCers may know them. Miro, Kruno, Rich and Shelley) Thanks again guys, we had fun. Then off to bed we went, to wake up and start it all over again today with another 6am train to Montreal. Today wasnt very exciting, once we got into town we found our hotel and ended up catching up on our sleep, Besides that we just chilled out and enjoyed a restful day off. And with that I bid you all a good night.
