01/31/2003 - "Updates in Winnipeg"
by Stace

Hi again everyone,

Yesterday was a day off for OLP and the Fear Of The Trailer park tour, but Seether and Finger Eleven stopped at Regina on the way to Winnipeg to put on a killer show.

We pulled into Regina at about 11 am and there were already fans outside waiting in freezing temperatures! Ric loaded them up with some posters from the Street Team stash and they got to listen to some new F11 tunes.

If you didnt already know, Finger Eleven are working on their next album and they gave Tanya and I a couple of clips to let some fans listen to. Were taping their reactions on our camcorder and bringing them back to the band! Who knows these fans may even end up in a commercial or something.

The Calgary and Edmonton shows were something I was really glad I got to see in person. Seether and Finger Eleven warmed up an already excited crowd and when OLP came out the noise almost brought the house down. Ive heard people say they were showing off for the cameras, but Ive seen OLP do shows like that with no camera in sight. They feed off the energy of the crowd and those two nights there was plenty to go around!

The band spent most of the day in Calgary before the show rehearsing. We also met the MuchMusic Ultimate Fan winner and his 30 friends. They got to meet the band and watch the rehearsal. It was a pretty cool prize, but I think it would be hard to choose just 30 people to go to something like that.

I twisted my ankle at the Kelowna show so it been kinda crappy hobbling around on that but at least Ive stopped limping and Tanya isnt calling me Quasimodo anymore.

You know when I signed on for this tour I knew gathering all this content and getting everything together would be a time consuming experience, but I never expected to be this busy. On arena show days, Tanya and I head into the venue anywhere from 10-2 and we usually dont even have time to take a break all day. Weve gotten to the point where were running around so much we forget to eat all day and only end up having dinner. Were working on that though. One thing you dont want to do on the road is get sick.

Speaking of health, Steve and Jeremy have started the flu-plague. When a tourbus is exposed to a vurus, it quickly becomes a large petri-dish and mutates into a super-virus. The other thing to consider is that everyone is in such close contact that as soon as someone gets sick, all the busses and everyone on them get it.

In other words if you plan on talking to anyone from the FOTTP tour in the next little while, you do so at your own risk

But I digress back to being insanely busy. I will try and update these more because I know theyre important and Im sorry we havent been able to get around to them more regularly.

The postcard handouts are going really great. All of our winners so far have been really excited and grateful to be moved up to the front row. Soundchecks are a lot of fun as well. Its been good to meet all of the CCers and put faces to the people Ive been talking to for so long.

Right now its about 3:30 am and Were on the way out of Winnipeg. The FOTTP tour has a couple of days off again but were heading to Thunder Bay and another Finger Eleven/Seether club show.

Im getting tired and I want to get some photos up for you guys before I get to bed, so Im going to sign off here. Once again I promise to try harder to get more updates up! Thanks for bearing with us.

Oh, by the way. OLP have the most amazing crew. We thought you might like to know a little more about what they do. If you have amy questions, shoot me an email and well ask them and post there here.

I know this was a little rambling, but hey its 3:30 in the morning! Ill do better tomorrow.
